The story

Twenty years underground taught miner Nico Vasari to read rock before it turns — but nothing prepared him for the cavern beneath South Africa he just led crystal specialist Ava Hughes into: crystals that glow from within, pulse like breathing, and hum in a rhythm too even to be chance. Ava's instruments spike past anything she trusts; her training says document everything, her gut says run. Nico just wants them topside. The deeper they go, the less the curse feels like theory — and the more the cavern seems to be choosing too: patient, attentive, closing. His blunt nerve against her studying mind, the real question isn't what this place wants. It's which will pay for the answer.
